The diorama of the invasion of Guadalcanal depicts the terrain facing the Marines as they came ashore by landing craft. The Marines pushed the Japanese forces into the heights above Henderson Field. This perimeter caused the Japanese forces to attack "uphill" Keeping "Henderson Field" operational and affording the troops aerial protection.
Included in the display is a map showing the "Island Hopping" Campaign Strategy by US Forces in the Pacific.
Signed Copies of Medal of Honor recipient The Guadalcanal display at Museum Gregory "Pappy" Boyington’s book "Baa - Baa Black Sheep", which became popular TV. Series, in the late 70"s. Boyington flew several missions out of Henderson field.
Also included is a copy of a Newspaper headline announcing the landing and a photograph of the raising of the U.S. Flag at Henderson Field.
