Thiokol TX481 Rocket Motor
The TC481 is a solid propellant dual thrust rocket motor made by Thiokol used to power the AGM-65 air-to-surface tactical missile. This missile was first produced by Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon in 1970. It is used against a variety of targets including armor, air defenses, ground transportation and fuel storage facilities. The AGM-65 had two types of warheads. The first type has a contact fuse in the nose, the second has a delayed fuse which allows the missile to penetrate its target before detonation. The AGM-65 was used to arm F-16s and A-10 aircraft during operation Desert Storm in 1991.
Thiokol M58 AIM4D Rocket Motor
The Thiokol M58 was a solid fuel rocket motor used in the GAR-1 intercept missile in 1956. The GAR-1 was a semi active radar homing short range missile with a 7.6 pound warhead. The missiles did not have a proximity fuse and had to directly hit their targets to explode. These were primarily used against large slow, bombers. The F89 and the F102 interceptor aircraft were armed with these missiles.
