The U.S.S. Arizona sat unsuspecting in Pearl Harbor’s battleship row as the Japanese attacked on the morning of December 7, 1941. At approximately 8:05 A.M. was hit by an armor piercing bomb igniting her forward ammunition. In less then nine minutes she sank with 1,177 of her crew. No U.S. ship has ever gone down with as many of her crew. Her destruction became a rallying cry for the United States in World War II.
